I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
This post is a little later than I intended, but really it is never too early or too late to be thankful! 🙂
Regardless of our circumstances, we can always be thankful because God is always good. I have had a lot of good things happen in the past year, but even if you’ve had a rough year, I hope you will be able to praise God for His blessings.
Here are some things I’m especially thankful for this year:
My amazing husband. My husband is so wonderful and I have loved our second year of marriage. He is so caring and patient and always makes time for us even when so many things vie for his attention. He has helped me grow in so many areas and it is a joy to spend time with him no matter what we are doing. He really is the best. 🙂
Our sweet little baby. Baby J has brought so much joy and laughter to our life. His 7-tooth grin, mischievous antics, and hilarious giggles make us so happy. He’s taken three steps now and is learning so much! We are so proud of him already.
Our families. Even though we have had a busy year, my husband and I enjoy all the time we get to spend with our parents, siblings, and grandparents. We really loved spending time with everyone last week for Thanksgiving!
Our church family. We love our church! Our church has had a lot of big changes in the last year, but we deeply care for the people of God in the church God has given us. They are an encouragement and a blessing!
Good books. I have enjoyed many good books this year! I am thankful for the time and effort that good authors put into their books and for the various gifts God has given different people. You can learn so much from reading a book and there are so many excellent books to choose from!
Hymns and other good music. At one of our church services, we have started doing mostly hymns and I love this! I have been learning quite a few new hymns and how to play them better on the piano. I have been listening to many of these hymns throughout the week too.
Our land, house, and all the work that’s been done. It’s amazing the amount of work we’ve accomplished on our land and house in the last year! There is still so much to do, but last year it was an open field and a brushy wood. Now we have a foundation with a lot of stonework, a mostly finished shed, a well and septic, a driveway, a sawmill, logs, and many other improvements!
The word of God. There are many people in the world today who do not have access to God’s word, and yet we can own multiple Bibles in multiple translations and not even think about it. We should always treasure God’s word like the priceless jewel it is.
Salvation in Jesus Christ. This is what I am most thankful for. Without salvation in Jesus, nothing else has any meaning. Our human efforts and accomplishments are nothing. Christ has paid the penalty for our sins so we can inherit eternal life. That is something to be thankful for!
I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving celebrating with those you love. Always remember that to be truly thankful, we must be thankful to someone. And of course, that someone is God.
